Lashmakers remember that health comes first!
We want to address the topic of “Health” which is often underestimated.
When we talk about eyelash applicators we immediately think of artists who, with tweezers in hand, create works of art that enhance a woman's gaze!
Unfortunately, no one stops to think about how physically demanding this work is from many points of view:
- due to the static nature that the working position requires, we have repercussions on blood circulation to the detriment of our poor legs;
- the back is subjected to a continuous curved position;
- in our eyes we ask for a continuous effort to focus on the tiny materials we work with;
- finally, we breathe in the harmful vapors that the glue releases with each application.
While we can easily remedy the first points with targeted physical activity to counteract sedentary work, drink plenty of water for circulation, use adequate light and do eye exercises to avoid straining our eyesight, it is not so simple to neutralize the chemical fumes of the glue, an essential substance in the application of eyelash extensions.
In fact, these fumes should not be underestimated, since excessive exposure to volatile cyanoacrylate molecules (the chemical agent in glue) can lead to total or partial loss of smell.
With this article we delve into this important topic!
How can we avoid excessive inhalation of vapors?
Always airing the room after each session is very important and effective, as it promotes oxygenation of the environment.
Practical and certainly economical are the classic hygienic or filtering masks (with activated carbon filter) to be placed on the nose and mouth during application. However, I do not feel like recommending them as the only means of precaution, as the former are not very functional (they leave spaces where air enters) and the latter are uncomfortable (they make you sweat).
Using a fan during the application can certainly help as it moves the air and consequently also the chemical molecules that remain right under our nose. But be careful, it moves them, not neutralizes them! It also needs to be positioned very carefully as it can bother the client.
- The latest generation of air purifiers can solve the problem with a good success rate. Also called purifiers , they help make the air we breathe every day healthier. In particular, these are machines that have the function of filtering the air and eliminating allergens and substances harmful to health. The air passes inside the filters thanks to the suction force of a fan: the particles, based on their size and composition, remain trapped in the filters and allow the purified air to escape. We ashmakers can rely on purifiers equipped with an active carbon filter (useful for purifying the air from organic and chemical elements by absorbing odors) and a Hepa filter (absorbs very small particles, including those that make up smog). For greater functionality of the purifier, it is also important to place it relatively close to the polluting source, in our case in the environment in which we work.

- “Anti Allergy Gel” is a certified product to limit the unwanted effects of using glue. This gel branded Light Lashes has a formulation that absorbs the “fumes” released by the glue so as to prevent the possible onset of allergies or, for those who already suffer from them, reduce the symptoms.
- Light Lashes respirator mask with valve and activated carbon layer. Shell-shaped filtering facepiece in polypropylene with an activated carbon layer that allows you to retain unpleasant or annoying odors from cyanoacrylate-based glue vapors, 2 self-adjusting elastic bands, aluminum nose clip, the polypropylene exhalation valve reduces heat and humidity inside the facepiece and ensures high comfort making the respirator suitable for hot and humid work environments, with longer product life, protects from water-based dust and mists and from unpleasant odors present in low concentrations.
In short, we have various methods to protect ourselves from possible glue poisoning, the important thing is to put them into practice!
Being aware of the risks we face makes us stronger because we can find solutions to the problem, in this way then in complete safety and serenity we can dedicate ourselves to our wonderful work, having fun and creating always different looks, Star looks!
