Vedere bene per lavorare meglio

See well to work better

The ergonomics of the Lashmaker presents some peculiarities that deserve the attention of professionals who deal with vision and the musculoskeletal system...

In particular, today we are dedicated to examining with Monica and Alessandra, owners of Ottica Sangaletti - Bergamo, the negative effects of poor lighting and incorrect working position, giving you the right suggestions to prevent worsening of the visual-postural system.

All those work activities that involve close distances lead to an intense work of accommodation which, together with a poorly lit environment, can facilitate the onset of a condition of myopia (difficulty in seeing from a distance) which worsens over time.

To allow for a reduction in visual fatigue, the client should be at an optimal distance of approximately 35/40 cm, defined in optometry as the Harmon distance, that is, to help us remember, the distance corresponding to the length that separates the elbow from the first phalanx of the middle finger.

The ambient lighting, that on the bed and at the workbench must be adequate, with a light that does not induce annoying reflections and that can also be adjusted according to the light coming from outside at different times of the day.

The light should come from the opposite side to the hand that is mainly used to work, to avoid shadows on the client's face: we therefore recommend lamps directed onto the work surface and moderate lighting in the rest of the room.

The Lashmaker must be aware of applying specific products that comply with current regulations in order to prevent possible damage to the eye, the most important and complex sense organ at our disposal.

Finally, a correct sitting position allows you to exercise optimal binocular vision while avoiding leaning obliquely towards the client.

In the case of visual defects, it is essential to identify the best optical solution that guarantees comfort and visual acuity, always turning to opticians and optometrists who can give you correct advice.

Vision and posture contribute inseparably to the prevention of visual and musculoarticular pathologies, for this reason in specific cases the collaboration between optician-optometrist and physiotherapist, through targeted combined visual-postural tests, is essential to live your working day 100% serenely.
