Who is a Lashmaker?

Who is a Lashmaker?

Lashmaker. Who is this?

In recent years we often hear this word, some keep it as a second name, others even as a surname, but in truth, it is the name of a profession.

Let's see what it consists of. Let's start with a simple analysis of the word. Analyzing it carefully we will notice that this word is composed of 2 parts: "lash" which in English means eyelashes (singular), and "maker" always in English which has more meanings: creator, who makes, manufacturer, etc. Consequently the lashmaker is the one who makes (creates) eyelashes. In fact many other professions in English are called thanks to the word "maker", for example: book-maker (Bookie), Cabinet maker (Carpenter), Chocolate maker (Chocolate maker), Make-Up artist (I don't think it needs traditions), etc. Moreover, as we can see from the previous examples, the two words are composed and are written separately or with a hyphen in the middle, unlike lashmaker which is now written together.

Despite the simple translation of the word, the work of a lashmaker is not simple!

A good lashmaker is not just a person who does eyelashes! There is no one-size-fits-all path! Many start by chance, some find a passion, some others had another job before and started as an assistant to some great master. A good lashmaker knows how to do a lot of things:

-be a designer of the look (recognize the shapes of the face and the eye, apply the effects suitable for the eye)

- know the anatomy of the eyelash and eyebrow arch so as not to overload the natural base, and above all not to damage it

- partly also being a doctor to recognize (not cure) the simplest diseases

- be a "psychologist" for our clients (yes, that's right)

- knowing how to create an eyebrow that suits each person's look

- know different application techniques (one to one, 2D, 3D, Russian volume)

-be able to recommend suitable cosmetics and makeup

- be a Make Up artist

- knowing how to distinguish yourself

But that's not all because by analyzing this profession in depth there is much more to explore.

- know photo editing programs (e.g. Photoshop)

- own a professional camera

- knowing how to navigate marketing

You add what's missing! There are no precise rules to take this path, but one thing is certain: to start you need a lot of passion, patience and humility, and since we are talking about a very competitive and fairly young field, also a good dose of courage and ambition.
